Jane Harper’s extraordinary ride to literary stardom is what we’re deep diving into on this week’s episode. The UK-born, Australian-based author’s breakout success with her debut novel, The Dry, has seen her go from newspaper journalist to full-time author in less than a year! Jane worked as a print journalist for 13 years in Australia and the UK before giving up the day job to become a full-time author. The Dry, a thriller set an Aussie rural town, won the Victorian Premier’s Literary Award for an Unpublished Manuscript in 2015.
It has since gone on to achieve phenomenal success with rights sold in more than 20 territories, film rights optioned by Reese Witherspoon’s production company, as well as spending considerable time in the bestseller charts. Jane is currently working on her second book, due out in 2017, as part of a three-book deal with Pan Macmillan.
